About
Our paediatric allergy and respiratory medicine service is one of very few centres in the UK to provide a comprehensive service to children with allergic and respiratory disease.
The respiratory sleep service focuses on sleep disordered breathing and a wide range of paediatric sleep disorders. We are actively engaged in childhood translational sleep research and you can read more about our sleep service here.
The service provides a thorough assessment of children with the full spectrum of respiratory conditions, including:
- any chest problem (acute or chronic)
- asthma
- childhood lung disease
- airway problems
- sleep apnoea
- sleep related medical problems including narcolepsy
If medications are required for treatment an action plan will be provided and we will provide training on how to use devices such as inhalers.
Additional information
Community outreach
We have developed and are implementing a unique integrated care-pathway programme with training and support for carers, nurseries, schools and health professionals to ensure consistent delivery of the highest standard of care close to home.
Clinical trials and research
You may be asked whether you and your child are willing to participate in a study. If you do not want to participate it will not in any way affect the management of your child’s allergic problem. Current examples of our research and clinical trials relating to allergy and respiratory medicine can be found on the paediatric research unit page.
Education and elective placements
For information on elective placements please contact Dr Parviz Habibi by emailing p.habibi@imperial.ac.uk
