Consultant paediatric dermatologist
Before your appointment
You should attend all appointments with your child if they are under the age of 16.
Please bring any medications, creams or topical treatments currently used on your child’s skin, and their ‘red book’.
Also bring:
- Your full address and telephone number(s)
- Your appointment card and appointment letter
- Your GP’s name and address
- A list of questions to ask the consultant
During your appointment
Our dermatology clinics are held in the paediatric outpatients department on the sixth floor of the QEQM building. Please allow up to two hours for your visit.
At your child’s first appointment, a specialist dermatologist will take a detailed history and examine your child’s skin. Your child may need to undress to their underwear for full examination.
Investigations may include skin biopsy, blood tests, mycology swabs, or cryotherapy.
Treatment will usually include topical moisturisers and ointments, and may involve medication or other therapies.
After your appointment
You will receive a follow-up appointment if needed.
