About
The Imperial College centre for paediatric sleep science and medicine at St Mary’s Hospital is one of the very few centres in the UK that provides a comprehensive service for childhood sleep disorders.
Conditions and treatments
Sleep problems are common during childhood and can affect normal growth and development. A range of problems may occur including breathing disorders (e.g. snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea), insomnias, circadian rhythm sleep disorders, parasomnias (unusual behaviours in sleep), and narcolepsy.
We run a consultant-led sleep clinic and a state-of-the-art diagnostic sleep lab in our paediatric research unit. The sleep lab provides private bedrooms with en suite bathroom facilities for each child and has facilities for parents to stay overnight while a sleep study is being performed. We perform sleep studies on most nights, including Friday and Saturday nights to accommodate children during term-time.
