What to expect
Before you have had your initial fertility tests with us, you will have two appointments with a consultant. The initial appointment is to discuss which tests are required. Once you receive your test results the consultant will discuss further investigations and treatment options in your second appointment. We offer IUI, IVF and ICSI – as well as optional add-on procedures.
Your first consultation
We encourage you to bring your partner or a friend to your appointments with our fertility service. At your first appointment, you will meet with a consultant for the first time and have the opportunity to discuss your medical history and how you would like to grow your family.
We will explain the results of your initial fertility tests and any further investigations we think are needed. We will talk you through a personalised treatment plan based on your medical history and suggest lifestyle changes you might want to consider making while having fertility treatment.
If you decide to proceed with treatment we will schedule your co-ordination appointment.
Your treatment plan
Depending on the results of you and/or your partner’s initial tests and investigations you may move forward to have one of the following treatments:
- IVF (In-vitro fertilisation)
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)
- Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
Nurse co-ordination appointment
Once we’ve decided on a treatment plan you will have a booking appointment with a named nurse.
The booking appointment is your opportunity to ask any questions you have and understand which appointments will happen when. A nurse will talk you through your treatment plan and ask you to sign the consent forms stating that you agree to proceed with fertility treatment. Depending on the treatment you are having, a nurse will show you how to take your medication and give yourself an injection. Please allow one hour for your booking appointment.
