Background
Sotirios is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Accredited Subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine and surgery at the Trust. He also holds an Honorary Clinical Lectureship at Imperial College London.
He originally graduated from the University of Sheffield and continued his Specialty Training in London, primarily within Imperial College NHS Trust. He subsequently relocated to Hong Kong where he was appointed a Visiting Scholar by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. There, he was awarded a substantial Research Grant by the Hong Kong government and completed a Fellowship in IVF and a Doctoral Thesis on “3D ultrasound in reproductive medicine and surgery”.
He later completed a Surgical Fellowship at Fuxing Hospital/Capital Medical University, Beijing, one of the leading Reproductive Endoscopy centres in China, before returning to London to work within Imperial College, across Hammersmith, Queen Charlotte's & Chelsea and St Mary's hospitals.
Sotirios has gained extensive experience from working in several different public and private IVF units (within the UK, Europe and Hong Kong). He has co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters in the field of fertility and IVF. He has also co-developed national and international guidelines on recurrent miscarriage and congenital uterine anomalies for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the European Society of Human Reproduction & Embryology (ESHRE), which are used by clinics all over the world. He is frequently invited to lecture at national and international conferences and has been on the faculty of several international workshops and postgraduate programmes.
He has a keen interest on the application of novel technologies and Artificial Intelligence in the field of reproductive healthcare and has completed an executive programme on Artificial Intelligence from MIT.
