Our colposcopy clinic at St Mary’s Hospital assesses women with abnormal smears.
The colposcopy consultation may seem a frightening prospect especially if patients have been referred with an abnormal smear. For the vast majority of patients this does not mean there are any cancerous changes present and some changes require surveillance only.

Clinical trials and research
We are presently completing a trial on treatments of the cervix, where we are trying to better predict those who may be at a higher risk of premature delivery after treatment. If there are clinical trials open that might suit a patient we will let the patient know. All participation is voluntary.
