Patient information
Before your appointment
If you have undergone any previous investigations for your problem, please bring any results, scans or images with you to your appointment. Please remember to check your appointment letter for anything specific you have been asked to take with you. In addition, it would be helpful if you could bring the following:
- Your full address and telephone number(s)
- Your appointment card and appointment letter
- Your GP’s name and address
- Money to pay for any prescriptions, or an exemption card
- A list of questions you may want to ask your consultant
During your appointment
Your appointment will be in the outpatients department at Charing Cross Hospital with one of our nerve surgeons.
After your appointment
After this appointment it is likely you will be referred for further investigations and tests. These may include nerve conduction studies that look at how the nerve is working, and imaging to see where the nerve is damaged. Depending on the results of these investigations, you could be referred to our therapists for treatment or possibly surgery.
Refer to this service
Please send referrals via NHS e-Referral Service. Many hand and nerve procedures are now subject to Planned Procedure with a Threshold (PPwT) – please ensure that referrals follow these guidelines. All referrals are processed through Charing Cross Hospital.
