Background

Born and raised in Hampshire, Dr Shehan Hettiaratchy graduated from Oxford University in 1994 with prizes in surgery and medicine. He trained in surgery in London, Birmingham, Australia and the US, with three specialist fellowships (microsurgery, hand and wrist surgery, aesthetic surgery). He obtained a FRCS (Plast) in 2007 and has been a consultant at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust since 2009.

Research & publications

Three year research fellowship, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, US. Doctorate of Medicine, Oxford University; Hunterian Professor, Royal College of Surgeons of England; Pulvertaft Prize, British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
