The Centre for Peri-Operative Medicine and Critical Care Research aims to improve our care for people who are undergoing surgery or are seriously ill.

The Centre conducts high quality studies and clinical trials in areas such as: disease, the use of drugs and new technology, epidemiology and public health, and the human and individual characteristics that can influence health and safety in operating theatres and intensive care units.

Research projects are led by senior staff, most often consultants, who are the principal investigators for the studies and take responsibility for their overall conduct. We also have a team of experienced research nurses and research fellows. Many of the projects are conducted in partnership with colleagues from Imperial College London and other centres in the UK and abroad.
