Travel options

Underground

East Acton station is the closest tube station to Hammersmith Hospital. It is in zone two and serves the Central line. The station is approximately a 12 minute walk from the hospital. Alternatively you can walk for three minutes to bus stop C on Du Cane Road, and take buses 7, 70, 72, 272, 283 and N7 to Hammersmith Hospital.

White City station, is in zone two on the Central line, and approximately a 14 minute walk or five minute bus ride from the hospital. Buses 72 and 272 travel from White City station to Hammersmith Hospital.

Wood Lane station, is in zone two on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. It is approximately a 16 minute walk from the hospital. Alternatively, you can walk for two minutes to White City station, and take buses 72 or 272 to Hammersmith Hospital.

Cash free buses

Since July 2015, you are no longer able to use cash to pay for your bus fare on London buses. Instead of cash you are able to use an Oyster card, a visitor Oyster card, a contactless payment card or a day travel card.

Taxi

To request a taxi when leaving the hospital, visit the Front of house team located at the main reception on the ground floor near the hospital’s main entrance. 

The pick-up and drop-off points are directly outside the hospital’s main entrance on Du Cane Road, or the north entrance (zone N).

Outside of these hours, there is a telephone located on the shelf at the main reception. Pick up the receiver, listen to the options and dial 1. This will automatically connect to a taxi service.

Bike

Park your bike

There are several bike racks at Hammersmith Hospital where you can park your personal bike. Please lock your bike securely when using these facilities.  

Santander cycles

Please use the Transport for London Santander cycle map to help you find a bike. There are a few Santander cycle docking stations near Hammersmith Hospital, including:

  • BBC white city docking station, which is a 10 minute walk from the hospital
  • Westfield, Ariel Way docking station which is a 17 minute walk from the hospital and also very close to White City and Wood Lane underground stations
  • There are also Santander docking stations on Woodstock Grove and Westfield Southern Terrace which are near to Shepard’s Bush overground station.  

Car

When possible, we strongly encourage you to use public transport to travel to and from Hammersmith Hospital. If you decide to travel by car, please plan your journey in advance.

We have a small number of car parking spaces. There are also pick-up and drop-off points directly outside the hospital’s main entrance on Du Cane Road and by the north entrance (zone N).

Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) daily charge

All of our hospitals are within the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) which means that if you drive to your appointment, or are driven by a family member or friend, your car will need to meet the ULEZ emissions standards otherwise, you will have to pay a £12.50 daily charge.
