Background

Dr Tyson qualified from the University of Cambridge in 2011. He undertook his higher specialty training in the North West Thames region. As well as his medical degrees, he has completed a PhD with Imperial College London. Dr Tyson has published widely and has won a variety of competitive bursaries and prizes. Dr Tyson is on the Specialist Register for Gastroenterology with a sub-specialty in Hepatology. Currently, Dr Tyson is a Consultant Hepatologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Dr Tyson works cross-trust as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Northwick Park and St Mark’s hospitals.

Dr Tyson is interested in all aspects of hepatology, as well as general gastroenterology including irritable bowel syndrome and its mimics. He has a particular interest in steatotic (‘fatty’) liver diseases. Dr Tyson has an active research interest in alcohol-related liver disease, and leads the non-alcoholic fatty liver disease service at Northwick Park and St Mark’s. Dr Tyson is an experienced endoscopist and performs upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (colonoscopy) for a range of gastrointestinal disorders.
