Background

Dr Ian Pollock qualified in medicine from the Royal London Hospital in 1976. His initial medical training included working in obstetrics and gynaecology and a period working as a general practitioner in Canada. He subsequently trained in paediatrics, mainly in London teaching hospitals, but this also included a period as a senior resident at Boston Children’s Hospital, Massachusetts, USA.

Dr Pollock undertook research into food and food additive intolerance and house dust mite allergy at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London with Professor John Warner. He gained accreditation in general paediatrics and was appointed to his present position of consultant paediatrician in 1993. He has been chair of the department and/or clinical director for most of the time since his appointment. Dr Pollock works as a consultant paediatric allergist at St Mary's Hospital, working in one to three paediatric allergy clinics per week.  He is also the senior paediatric consultant at Barnet and Chase Farm hospitals.  He continues allergy research and publications into new treatments for eczema.
