Background

Dr Frances Davies graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1998. She completed her medical SHO training at Barts Health NHS Trust, before training in microbiology at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. In 2007 she moved to Imperial College London to read for a PhD in microbiology and immunology, writing a thesis entitled "Superantigen interactions in streptococcal tonsillitis". She has been working as an NHS consultant microbiologist since 2012, returning to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in 2013.

Dr Davies is interested in infections in the immunocompromised host, and healthcare associated infections. She is actively involved in the healthcare infection epidemiology team, and has a specialist interest in the detection, epidemiology and management of drug-resistant pathogens.
