Please use NHS e-Referrals to refer a patient to our infectious diseases service.

If you are referring a patient with a productive cough or urinary tract infection, please email details of any recent microbiology investigation report (positive or negative) together with your referral letter.

Please provide patients with a specimen pot and advise patients a sputum/urine sample is required on the morning of their hospital appointment. For patients with a productive cough, we recommend the GP arrange a chest x-ray prior to clinic attendance.

For urgent referrals, please contact the duty microbiologist/ID consultant via hospital switchboard.
