Chaplaincy services

Christian chapel

The St Mary’s chapel is open to everyone; it provides a quiet place to pray or reflect during the day for prayer and reflection. Roman Catholic Mass is celebrated on Sunday at 11.00, and Thursday at 12.30, and usually on Holy Days of Obligation at 12.30 (subject to particular arrangements on the day). A Church of England Eucharist is held on Wednesday at 12.30. Memorial services and other acts of worship are also held at particular times of year such as Christmas and Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. The Blessed Sacrament is reserved. For further information about times of service, please contact the chaplaincy.

Directions

From main reception in the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (QEQM) building take the lift to the second floor. Walk across the red bridge to the Cambridge wing and Mary Stanford wing. Once you have crossed the bridge, turn right and the chapel is at the end of the corridor on the left.

The chapel can also be accessed via the Cambridge wing entrance in Norfolk Place. Take the stairs or lift to the first floor and follow signs into the Mary Stanford wing.

Opening times

07.00 to 19.00, daily. Outside of these times, access can be obtained by speaking to the Security office on the intercom to the right of the door.

Muslim prayer room

The Muslim prayer room has separate ablution facilities for men and for women. Women are invited to pray in the multi-faith room, which is next door to the Muslim prayer room. These spaces are provided for patients, their families and staff, for private and congregational prayer. For further information about times of prayer, please contact the chaplaincy.

Directions

Enter the Cambridge wing via the Norfolk Place entrance. Turn left and the prayer room is at the very end of the hallway on the left.

Opening times

11.00 to 19.00, Monday to Friday. Outside of these times, access to the Muslim prayer room is subject to swipe access control for the safety and convenience of Muslim patients and staff. Members of staff who wish to use the Muslim prayer room outside of these times should request that access be added to their staff identity card by security.

Multi-faith room

The multi-faith room is available as a quiet place for prayer and reflection, and is used in particular by Muslim women for their prayers. It is next door to the Muslim prayer room, from which it is separated by a sliding partition. It is also used for Friday Jumma prayers together with the Muslim prayer room, with the sliding partition removed.

Shops

Friends of St Mary’s Hospital shop

The shop situated on the ground floor of the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (QEQM) building. It is run by staff and volunteers from the charitable organisation Friends of St Mary’s Hospital. The shop sells magazines, newspapers, sweets, soft drinks, greeting cards and gifts.

Places to eat

Friends of St Mary’s Hospital café

The café situated in main outpatients and is run by staff and volunteers from the charitable organisation Friends of St Mary’s Hospital. The café sells hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks. The café only accepts cash.

Union House coffee shop

The Union House coffee shop is situated on the ground floor of the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother (QEQM) building. It serves Starbucks coffee, sandwiches, salads, baguettes, wraps, soups, paninis, pasties, cakes and biscuits. There is a large seating area where you can eat and drink, and there is also free Wifi available.

Café Qualita

Café Qualita is located on Norfolk Place. The shop sells Costa coffee and a range of cakes and sandwiches.

Vending machines

Vending machines are located in the main entrance of the QEQM building. They serve hot and cold food 24hrs a day.
