Background

Melody Taheri qualified with merit from the Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2008. She is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with a permanent consultant post at St Mary’s Hospital, London. Her specialist interest is in the management of fibroids including the use of novel and minimally invasive techniques.

She is able to manage the full range of benign gynaecological conditions including menstrual disorders, adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain and painful periods.

She completed her doctorate research thesis at Imperial College London on novel minimally invasive treatments for fibroids whilst completing a two-year long fellowship in the specialist fibroid clinic at St Mary’s hospital. This work has been published in international journals and presented at both national and international conferences. She continues her research looking at the treatment for fibroids and adenomyosis with uterine artery embolization and radiofrequency ablation. She was instrumental in the introduction of radiofrequency ablation of fibroids at St Mary’s in the UK in 2016, the first hospital to use this in the UK.
