Background

Dr Kornelia Kotseva obtained her MD at the Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. She completed her PhD postgraduate specialisation at the University of Milan, Italy and the University of Ghent, Belgium, before becoming a consultant in preventive cardiology in the UK.

Dr Kotseva's main topics of interest are surveys in preventive cardiology and clinical trials. She is chair of the steering committee and senior project manager of the EUROASPIRE and ASPIRE-3-PREVENT surveys. The most recent EUROASPIRE V survey is currently recruiting patients in 27 European countries with the objective of determining lifestyle and risk factor management in hospital patients with coronary disease and in general practice those at risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

Dr Kotseva has published more than 160 peer review publications in scientific journals and chapters in textbooks.
