Professor Jonathan Weber is the Jefferiss Professor of Genitourinary Medicine and Communicable Diseases at Imperial College London, and an honorary consultant physician at St Mary’s Hospital. He trained at Cambridge University and St Bartholomew’s Hospital, the Institute of Cancer Research and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, before establishing the academic department of genitourinary medicine, attached to the Jefferiss Wing, in 1991. He has researched HIV infection and AIDS since 1982, developing combination antiretroviral therapy in the 1990s. He is now working on HIV prevention through vaccine development.
