Background

Consultant paediatrician Bob Klaber joined the Trust in 2009. He works as a paediatrician on the children’s wards at St Mary’s Hospital and in local GP practices through Connecting Care for Children, an integrated child health programme in north west London.

Since 2019 Bob has been the executive director responsible for strategy, research, innovation and improvement across the Trust. This also involves clinical leadership around redevelopment, sustainability, improving population health, neighbourhood health, developing the Trust’s role as an anchor institution and improving health equity. Bob established Paddington Life Sciences in 2023 and works closely with university, local authority, NHS, industry and voluntary sector partners to develop the Trust’s research, innovation and life sciences work.

Bob is also one of the leaders of Kindness in Healthcare, a network of 1600 people from 37 different countries.

Having studied at the University of Cambridge and Bart's and The London School of Medicine, Bob completed his postgraduate training in paediatrics in hospitals across London. He has also trained as a medical educationalist and in quality improvement, and, through an MD at University College London, in mixed methods research on leadership development. He is a professor of practice (population health) at the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, and a trustee of the Nuffield Trust and Imperial Health Charity.
