Trust chair to step down next April

Our Chair, Paula Vennells, has today let the Trust know that she will be stepping down from her role in April, at the end of the current financial year.

She said: “By the time I leave, I will have been in the position for two years. While I will be very sad to go, it is a personal decision at the right time. I am so proud of what we achieve across our hospitals - from the fantastic care and treatment to the outstanding research and education. I continue to be amazed every day by the dedication and expertise of our people, not least during the pandemic when so much has been asked of everyone.

Chief executive Professor Tim Orchard said: “Paula has made an enormous contribution to the Trust and the wider health and care sector. Her continued focus on our vision and values, as well as diversity and inclusion, has supported real progress with our organisational culture and the development of more collaborative ways of working, for the benefit of patients, staff and local communities. In particular, she has been instrumental in building understanding and support for a much needed, major redevelopment of our estate. We are very grateful for her commitment and expertise and will make the most of her remaining time at the Trust.”

Paula will continue in her role as normal for the next four months. As Imperial College Healthcare is an NHS trust, NHS Improvement will lead the process for appointing a successor.
