New chief financial officer appointed

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has named its new chief financial officer as Richard Alexander, who brings a wealth of experience from both the NHS and the commercial sector.

Richard is currently finance director at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) where he has been since 2007.

Before joining the NHS, Richard worked in the technology industry, including 16 years at Oracle, moving to the Netherlands in 2000 to run Oracle Netherlands’ financial activity, then to Bangalore three years later to establish Oracle’s Global Financial Information Centre.

Chief executive of Imperial College Healthcare Dr Tracey Batten said: “We were extremely impressed with the strength and breadth of Richard’s experience and achievements in both the commercial and public sectors. His strong values and deep understanding of the NHS make him a great fit for our executive team and Trust board.”

Richard said: “I'm really excited to be joining both the leadership team and the finance directorate of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. It feels like exactly the right time to be joining this famous trust as it is creating an inspiring vision for an exciting future, beginning to evolve its services and ways of working to meet the changing health needs of patients and local communities. I’m really looking forward to being part of the delivery of this vision, building on the great experience I have had during my eight years at UCLH."

Richard is expecting to start at the Trust in the summer.  Interim chief financial officer Alan Goldsman will continue in the role until then.
