Trust marks Healthy Living Week

Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust will be taking part in Healthy Living Week from 23-30 September with the Trust's 10,000 plus staff encouraged to get involved by making a personal ‘healthy living pledge,’ to help them live healthier lives.

A host of free activities and events will be held for all staff across the Trust thanks to Imperial College Healthcare Charity and corporate sponsors. It will include free flu vaccinations, yoga classes, body scans and more.

Nicola Bullen, Associate Director Health and Wellbeing at the Trust said the week aimed to get staff fit, active and having fun:

“We know that bad lifestyle choices add extra pressure along with costing the NHS millions each year – that is why it’s really important the NHS and our workforce leads by example and demonstrates one of our core values, to help everyone be as healthy as they can.

“This year we are asking our staff to share with us via social media their personal pledge to help them live a healthier life, whether it be committing to cycling to work a few days a week, giving up smoking, cutting back on alcohol intake or trying to lose weight.

“No matter how big or small their personal pledge may be, we want our staff to get involved and share their pledge with us via Facebook and Twitter.”

Staff who get in touch via social media between 23-30 September will be entered into a daily prize draw with the chance the win vouchers, a karaoke machine and even a kindle fire.
