Dr Julian Redhead appointed as new medical director

Dr Julian Redhead has been appointed as Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust’s new medical director.

Dr Redhead, currently the Trust’s deputy medical director, brings to the role years of clinical leadership experience most recently leading the Trust’s work on appraisal and revalidation. He is currently the responsible officer for the trust.

Specialising in emergency medicine Dr Redhead was first appointed as a consultant at Ealing hospital in 2000. He joined Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust full time in 2004 and became chief of service for emergency medicine in 2008. Since then he has held various roles including clinical programme group director for medicine, divisional director for investigative and supporting sciences and associate medical director for professional development.

Dr Redhead is currently also medical director of the Fortius Clinic, trustee to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, chairman of the London Board of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine, secretary to the British Association of Immediate Care for London and an inspector for the Care Quality Commission.

Chief executive of Imperial College Healthcare Dr Tracey Batten said:

Dr Redhead will take up his post early in the New Year.
