Background

Mr Giles Hellawell is a consultant urological surgeon at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He completed his undergraduate medical training at Oxford University (1988-1994) and then trained in laparoscopic oncology at Imperial College, London and at the Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne, Australia. He completed a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy fellowship in Leipzig, Germany with Professor Stolzenburg at the University of Leipzig. In addition to general urology he has a sub-specialty interest in urological oncology including prostate, bladder and renal cancer. He has a high volume practice in laparoscopic pelvic oncology (laparoscopic radical prostatectomy and radical cystectomy) and upper tract laparoscopy (laparoscopic nephrectomy). He provides a complete general urology service including surgery for benign prostate disease and renal stone disease. He maintains an academic interest in clinical research and has published book chapters and papers on prostate cancer and laparoscopic surgery.
