Background
Dr Duffield is a consultant anaesthetist with a background in both military and civilian medicine. He graduated from King’s College Medical School in 2008 with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and subsequently commissioned into the British Army as a medical officer.
In 2010, he completed officer training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, embarking on a military career that spanned over a decade, resulting in promotion to lieutenant colonel and completing two operational tours overseas.
Dr Duffield trained in anaesthetics through the North West London Deanery. He undertook advanced fellowships in paediatric anaesthesia at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, liver transplant anaesthesia at King’s College Hospital, and pre-hospital emergency medicine with the Great North Air Ambulance’s Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Dr Duffield previously held a substantive consultant post at King’s College Hospital with a sub-specialisation in liver transplantation.
Dr Duffield joined Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust as a substantive consultant in 2025. His areas of expertise include trauma, orthopaedics, HPB, vascular, and neurosurgery.
