Background

Dr Carolyn Gabriel qualified from the Medical College of St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1990 with a first class honours degree in biochemistry and honours in medicine. She researched molecular and immunological aspects of peripheral neuropathy at Guy’s Hospital and was awarded a PhD in 1998. Her postgraduate training in neurology was at Guy’s, Chelsea & Westminster, the National Hospital (Queen Square) and St Mary’s hospitals. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2008.

Dr Gabriel has been a consultant neurologist at St Mary’s Hospital since 2004, where she sees all aspects of general neurology as inpatients and outpatients and runs specialist peripheral nerve clinics.

Dr Gabriel is on the British Peripheral Nerve Society Council and the Neurology Specialist Examining Board for the Royal College of Physicians. She is head of career development for Imperial College School of Medicine.
