Professor Anne Hemingway Consultant radiologist

Background

Professor Anne Hemingway is a consultant radiologist specialising in infertility. She qualified at Guy's Hospital Medical School in 1975 and entered radiology training at Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School (RPMS) in 1979.

She was appointed as a senior lecturer and consultant radiologist with an interest in vascular interventional radiology and gastrointestinal bleeding at the RPMS in 1983 and subsequently as professor of radiology at Sheffield University in 1987. Following marriage she returned to Hammersmith Hospital becoming increasing involved in clinical governance, radiation safety and the training of future radiologists.

During this time she developed an interest in infertility imaging and since 1997 has performed in excess of 10,000 hysterosalpingograms (HSGs) to investigate women who are unable to conceive, or who have suffered recurrent miscarriages or who have other conditions affecting their fertility. She also works closely with Dr Steven Moser to undertake selective salpingography and fallopian tube recanalisation.
