Shortlisted for four HSJ Digital Awards
Imperial College Healthcare has been shortlisted for four HSJ Digital Awards, three of which are for partner projects with the North West London Acute Provider Collaborative (APC). This is the formal partnership of the four acute NHS trusts in north west London.The shortlist includes a Trust initiative to combat tobacco dependency, as well as APC projects to provide virtual wards and improve integration between different clinical and non-clinical systems across north west London. Well done to all the teams and people involved. The winners will be announced in June.
The HSJ Digital Awards shine a light on teams and organisations ‘driving meaningful change through technology, improving patient outcomes, streamlining processes, and enhancing the overall quality of care’.

Driving Change through Data and Analytics Award – Imperial College Healthcare
- This Health Improvement initiative has transformed tobacco dependency care across four inpatient wards through a data-driven approach. Systematic data collection and analysis has enabled more targeted interventions, rapid identification of gaps, and automated referral processes – and ultimately led to improvements in specialist referrals and nicotine replacement therapy provision.
Optimising Clinical Pathways through Digital – Imperial College Healthcare (on behalf of North West London NHS Acute Provider Collaborative)
- This nomination is for the establishment of a coordinated digital approach to strengthen and standardise inpatient tobacco dependence support across North West London.
Driving Virtual Wards and Hospital at Home Through Digital – North West London Acute Provider Collaborative
- North west London’s virtual wards programme, which launched during the pandemic, now supports 471 virtual beds across multiple specialities. Using a single patient-facing app and integrated care records, the service provides safe monitoring, rapid escalation, and continuity of care. This has helped to reduce hospital admissions, shorten length of stay and improve patient experience.
Driving Interoperability and Standards Through Digital - North West London Acute Provider Collaborative
- North West London APC consolidated four separate clinical and non-clinical systems into a single cloud-based system across a variety of care settings. This has improved productivity, reduced NHS costs and strengthened patient safety.
