Have your say on the Fleming Centre

We have now submitted a planning application to Westminster City Council for the Fleming Centre, a new state-of-the-art research and public engagement hub focused on tackling antimicrobial resistance.

Westminster City Council has now opened its statutory consultation, and we would greatly value your support. Comments can be submitted via the Council’s planning portal using reference 25/08914/FULL.

Westminster City Council have asked for all comments to be received no later than 10 March to ensure timely progression of the application.

The Centre is part of the Fleming Initiative, a joint development with Imperial College London. The Centre will be located at The Bays building on the western edge of the St Mary’s site.

While its capital and revenue funding is entirely separate to that of the hospital, we hope it will show the sort of impact we expect to achieve with the masterplan.

The proposals follow a design competition and two phases of public consultation, which generated overwhelmingly positive support.

The Fleming Centre will offer open, collaborative public spaces linked to a rooftop terrace, publicly accessible exhibition and events spaces, a new canal-side café, and specialist workspaces, laboratories and clinical space to support cutting-edge research. Welcoming, safe and accessible outdoor routes will also form part of the scheme.
