A year of research in numbers

Alongside Imperial College London and through partnerships such as the Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) and NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) the Trust has contributed vast expertise and experience and clinical research infrastructure to the UK’s research landscape with key studies to improve treatments, develop new diagnostics and better understand diseases among nearly 900 studies supported at the Trust over the last year.

Commenting on International Clinical Trials Day, Dr Bob Klaber, director of strategy, research and innovation, said: “Research has been proven to be more vital than ever since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic but I am also thrilled that so many other areas of work have been able to restart and make progress in the last 12 months. From cancer to cardiovascular, clinical trials hold the key for us to continually improve the care, treatments and diagnostics we offer all our patients.”
