A free community event to learn more about kidney health
Join us on Saturday 28 June for the Cultural Health Expo 2025 – a free community event focused on kidney health and other vital health issues impacting Black communities.
Kidney disease disproportionately impacts Black communities due to genetic, socioeconomic, and healthcare access barriers. Black people are more likely to experience renal disease due to higher rates of underlying conditions like hypertension and diabetes, which significantly increase the risk of kidney failure.
The event will feature live music, spoken word, health screenings, and interactive activities – come along to meet healthcare professionals, get practical tools for managing conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney disease, and to enjoy a day of culture.

Joselyn King, head of our GP liaison service, will be the master of ceremony for the event.
“Kidney disease is an issue close to my heart because as with a number of Black families, my family have also been impacted. We’ve experienced this condition in the generation above and in my generation, and I don’t want it to continue with the current generation of children and grandchildren. This means educating them to make the necessary lifestyle changes and equipping them to be able to identify early warning signs. The Cultural Health Expo 2025 is one way in ensuring we’re doing just that in North-west London and I’m honoured to be the master of ceremony for the event.”
Let’s come together to learn and take charge of our health.
