Trust welcomes interim chief financial officer

We’re pleased to announce that Jazz Thind has joined Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust on secondment as interim chief financial officer following the resignation of Richard Alexander.

Jazz is a qualified accountant and joined the NHS in 1993 in a junior finance role. Since then, Jazz has taken up a number of roles in finance and has been in leadership roles across both NHS provider and commissioning organisations. Jazz joins the Trust from Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust where she has been finance director since 2016. Post-graduation and before joining the NHS, Jazz worked at HMRC.

Professor Tim Orchard, chief executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, said: “We are delighted to welcome Jazz to the executive team and board. She brings with her a wealth of NHS experience and achievements from her previous roles that will be hugely helpful as we look to the opportunities and challenges in the year ahead. I would also like to recognise Richard’s huge contribution during his four and half years at the Trust and thank him for his invaluable support and commitment.”

Commenting on her new role, Jazz said: “I have spent the vast majority of my career in the NHS and am really excited for this new opportunity. I look forward to working with my executive colleagues, the wider finance directorate and our partners.”

Richard Alexander will remain with the Trust until April 2020. He is leading a portfolio of north west London system-wide programmes to increase value from the support functions as well as continuing his work with Future Focused Finance, the national programme to build finance skills, expertise and understanding across the NHS. Next steps in recruiting permanently will be determined shortly.

The Trust has also recently appointed two new deputy chief financial officers to replace Janice Stephens, who leaves the Trust later this month, and Paul Doyle, who is moving teams this month to become a deputy director of transformation.

Sam Bullen is moving from his role as associate director of strategic finance at the Trust to become deputy chief financial officer (strategic and commercial) and Desireé Irving-Brown will join the Trust in February as deputy chief financial officer (operational finance). Desireé joins us from Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where she is currently deputy director of finance.
