Remembering Pedro Barte

Pedro was a hugely valued member of Lady Skinner Ward and is held in great affection by everyone who has worked with him since he joined the Trust in May 2002.

He will be remembered by his colleagues for his gentle, caring nature and quiet devotion to patients.

Diane Belshaw, senior sister, said:

"Pedro first started work on Harold Wesley Rehabilitation ward before transferring to 8 West Acute Elderly Medicine. Following his time in 8 West he came to Lady Skinner Ward and spent the rest of his career here.

"He was a man of very few words but the words he spoke to the patients were always words of comfort. He was a very private person but loved to go out on ward nights out. He was always there to listen to others and offer a helping hand. He was our gentle giant.

"He will be greatly missed by his family on Lady Skinner Ward and we will honour him by doing what he did best and caring for our patients.

"Once this pandemic is over we will be arranging a memorial service in the hospital chapel."

I will always remember Pedro. My days on Harlod Wesley and 8 west were the best with him. He was very much ' the gentle giant ' with the heart to follow. My heart has drop a size knowing he has gone, he will be missed BUT remembered in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
