Planned closure of a section of Praed Street near St Mary's Hospital

Westminster City Council has advised the Trust that a section of Praed Street near St Mary's Hospital, will be closed for two months from Monday 2 September to allow Crossrail public realm works for Eastbourne Terrace and works relating to the Paddington Square development.

The closures will be formed of two parts:

  • A one-way restriction will be in place between Spring Street and the Praed Street junction with London Street
  • No vehicles will be allowed along Praed Street between the London Street junction and Norfolk Place

London Street, Winsland Street, and South Wharf Road will remain open to ambulances and other traffic accessing St Mary's Hospital. The alternative route for traffic, including buses, will be via Sussex Gardens.

Pedestrians will be able to use Praed Street throughout the works but buses will not be able to access bus stop F (between Spring Street and London Street) or bus stop H (between London Street and Norfolk Place). Bus routes affected by the temporary works are:
7, 23, 27, 36, 46, 205, 332, N7, and N205.

Patients and visitors to St Mary’s are advised to allow extra time travel to and from the hospital as the road closures may impact upon journey times.
