Trust biomedical scientist wins award for academic excellence
A biomedical scientist from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has won an award for his academic performance in his professional exams.
Ludwig Lupak, 32, from London, was awarded the Company Members Prize by the Institute of Biomedical Science, after achieving the top mark in the Higher Specialist Diploma in clinical biochemistry.
Ludwig, who has worked at the Trust for two and a half years said:
“The Trust was very supportive of my desire to attain an additional professional qualification and really gave me the advice and encouragement I needed to complete the diploma.
“I am very proud that all of my hard work has paid off.”
Following his completion of the Higher Specialist Diploma in clinical biochemistry Ludwig was promoted to his current role of laboratory manager.
Ludwig continued:
“Completing the diploma definitely gave me the confidence and skills I needed to make the next move in my career and I cannot thank the Trust enough for its support during my studies.”
Stephen Snewin, head of laboratories at the Trust said:
“At the Trust we always encourage our staff to pursue educational opportunities, particularly those that improve patient care. Ludwig’s completion of the Higher Specialist Diploma to such a high standard shows a clear commitment to maintain and improve his practise for the benefit of his patients. This award and his recent promotion are a testament to that.”
The Company Members Prize is awarded to biomedical scientists who achieve quality and excellence in the Institute of Biomedical Science Higher Specialist Diploma. The diploma is designed to complement academic knowledge at a postgraduate level and help biomedical scientists to improve their practise to benefit their patients.
