Dr Sunil Patel
Background
Dr Sunil PateI is a consultant physician who specialises in respiratory, general and intensive care medicine.
He acquired bachelor degrees in biomedical science, medicine and surgery from The University of Nottingham and completed his foundation, core and advanced training in London.
Dr Patel has extensive experience in all aspects of respiratory medicine, but have particular interests in interstitial lung disease and respiratory failure which includes the investigation and diagnostic workup of patients with cough, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing. He is accredited and dual-qualified in intensive care medicine which involves caring for patients after major/complex surgery and those who are critically unwell.
He has acquired the MRCP(UK), respiratory specialty certificate (SCE) and the fellowship to the faculty of intensive care medicine (FFICM) diplomas.
He has conducted PhD level research at Imperial College London focusing on critical illness associated muscle wasting and also have interests in long-term effects of critical illness.
He runs clinics at Hammersmith Hospital in interstitial lung disease including those with multi-system disease.
