Dr Alex Digesu
Background
Dr Alex Digesu is a consultant obstetrician, gynaecologist & urogynaecology Subspecialist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in London as well as Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Imperial College, London.
Dr Digesu completed his specialist training in obstetrics & gynaecology and reproductive medicine in Italy at the University of Bari in 2002. In 2005 he achieved a PhD in Oncological, Gynaecological and Geriatric Surgery from the same university. His clinical and academic experience also includes a five years fellowship in Urogynaecology in London at King’s College Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital and two years subspecialty training in urogynaecology & reconstructive pelvic floor surgery at Imperial College of London.
Dr Digesu’s experience in obstetrics, gynaecology and urogynaecology managing uncomplicated as well as complicated pregnancies as well as patients with pelvic floor disorders and lower urinary tract dysfunction, started in 1997. Dr Digesu worked as Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Consultant in several University teaching hospitals as well as District General Hospitals in different countries including Italy, Switzerland and UK.
Since 2010 Dr Digesu has been accredited by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists as a specialist in urogynaecology/female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.

Dr Digesu published extensively in this field and he is author of more than 200 articles in peer review journals as well as several textbook chapters in the field of female urology, urinary incontinence and urogynaecology.

In view of his expertise in obstetrics, gynaecology and female pelvic floor surgery Dr Digesu is a member of the Expert Witness Institute in UK and acts as an university certified expert witness and consultant for medical legal cases involving postoperative complications related to malpractice in particularly those related to the use of meshes for vaginal surgery and urinary incontinence.
On the light of his clinical and academic achievements Dr Digesu has been awarded associate professor in obstetrics and gynaecology by the Italian Ministry of Health and Visiting Professor at the University of Naples.
