We are a national referral centre for adults affected with Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH). This is a rare disorder involving an accumulation of abnormal dendritic cells, a cell that forms part of the immune system, in various parts of the body. LCH has some characteristics of cancer, and organs such as the skin, bone, lymph nodes, liver, spleen and lungs may be affected. In some patients, LCH may resolve spontaneously, but in others the condition may be life-threatening.

Treatments we offer

Treatment of LCH may include topical therapies, oral immunosuppressants, or chemotherapy.
