Background

Dr Khan is a consultant cardiologist at the Trust and also at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. After studying medicine at Cambridge University he trained in cardiology in London. He was appointed a Consultant in 2005. He has a busy general cardiology practice, with a focus on percutaneous coronary intervention (treatment of coronary disease with angioplasty and stents).

Research & publications

Dr Khan spent three years during his training doing full time research, studying myocardial blood flow in humans using a novel scanning technique. The research findings were published in peer reviewed articles. More recently he has continued to participate in the departments research activities, helping to recruit patients and carry out research studies on a regular basis.
