Work experience

Applications for the October half term will be accepted up until the 15th September only. The programme will then be closed until further notice in preparation for the Easter Break placements.  

For local students at secondary school who are interested in a career in medicine or healthcare we run a work experience programme.

The programme is open to young people:

  • Aged between 16 and 18
  • Studying AS or A-levels and considering a degree in medicine or healthcare
  • Living in the UK
  • Studying at one of the local schools listed below:

If you would like to take part, your school will give you an application form. Your school will then date and sign it and return it to us at: imperial.work.experience@nhs.net 

If your school is not listed above, but you are from one of the following boroughs: Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham, Westminster, Ealing or Brent, please contact your head of sixth form or work experience head and request that they apply to be a part of our work experience programme. Unfortunatley we cannot accept applications from schools who are not part of our work experience programme. 

You may wish to consider alternative forms of work experience suggested in the Work Experience Guidelines for Applicants to Medicine produced by the Medical Schools Council.
