Trust nurse takes to the fashion catwalk

Clinical nurse specialist in gynecological cancers Valerie Ng joined other Macmillan professionals and people affected by cancer at a special event on Saturday (October 4).

Leading British fashion house Jacques Vert hosted a charity walk around St James’ Park, followed by a VIP celebrity-hosted fashion catwalk, to showcase a range of seasonal coats.

Valerie, who has worked with the Trust since 1998, says she was delighted to be asked to take part. She said: “It’s not every day you get asked to dress up and strut down a catwalk in front of 300 people and press. It was an exciting day. Macmillan is a charity very close to my heart, I’m fortunate to see first-hand at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital the impact of the work they do.”

Leyla Onal, corporate partnership manager at Macmillan, said: “A Coatwalk tickets cost £27, that’s enough to fund a Macmillan nurse for one whole hour and will make a real difference for people affected by cancer. In London more than 500 people a week are diagnosed with cancer. It’s our aim to make sure no one faces cancer alone but we can’t do this without the support of the amazing people who fundraise for us. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Jacques Vert Group for choosing Macmillan as their charity partner and for organising this event.”

The charity walk started at midday with a 3km walk around St James’ Park. This was followed by the ‘Coatwalk’ fashion show at One Great George Street.
