Trust doctor meets Prime Minister in celebration of LGBT+ community

A doctor from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust was invited to 10 Downing Street for a celebration of the LGBT+ community hosted by Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday 19 July.

Surgeon Lieutenant Commander Mike Hill, an Emergency Medicine registrar based at the Trust, is also a member of Compass, the sexual orientation and gender identity network of the Naval Service.

Surg Lt Cdr Hill said: "The Royal Navy is uniquely positioned to demonstrate to the world that embracing diversity leads to better outcomes from individuals and enhancement of operational capabilities.

"It was fantastic to highlight the progress the military has made and continues to make. It is also heart-warming to hear how appreciative members of the LGBT+ community are of the work the Armed Forces do for our community."

The sailors were also joined by representatives of the Army, RAF, MOD civil servants and 140 other guests from the public and charitable sector.
