Response to planning permission for the Paddington Quarter

On Tuesday 6 December, Westminster City Council’s Planning Application Committee gave its approval, with conditions, to the development proposals for 31 London Street, the former Royal Mail sorting office adjacent to St Mary's Hospital.

While the Trust very much supports the regeneration of the Paddington area, the planning decision has not resolved our very significant concerns about continued safe access for 'blue light' ambulances to St Mary's Hospital. It is vital, not least for the future viability of the hospital’s major trauma unit, that this issue is addressed properly, in partnership with the Trust, London Ambulance Service and others with the necessary expertise.

We are urgently seeking clarification from the Westminster City Council on the conditions for planning permission.
