Imperial College Healthcare appoints new chief operating officer
Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has appointed Claire Hook to the reintroduced role of chief operating officer. Claire was previously director of operational performance.As chief operating officer Claire will lead and co-ordinate operations functions across the Trust’s three clinical divisions and five hospital sites to ensure the Trust continues to deliver the highest standards of treatment and care effectively and safely, meeting or exceeding national and local quality standards.
Claire said:
“I feel very privileged to take up the role of chief operating officer at Imperial College Healthcare, particularly after seeing the amazing efforts and dedication of everyone during the pandemic.
“It’s a watershed time to be in healthcare and I am really excited about our future and continuing on our journey to make sure that we provide the best possible care whilst also being a happy and inclusive place to work.”
Prof Tim Orchard, the Trust’s chief executive, said:
“I am very pleased that Claire has been appointed as our new chief operating officer. She brings considerable experience to the role including her absolutely pivotal management of our Covid-19 response.
“Imperial College Healthcare is unusual in not having had a chief operating officer for the past five years. We’ve seen significant improvements both operationally and in our performance in that time but the healthcare landscape is changing. Now is the right time for us to reintroduce the chief operating officer role to take up the oversight and co-ordination of our sites and clinical divisions as we move towards more integrated healthcare working at sector and regional levels.”
Claire joined the Trust in 2012 as divisional director of operations for medicine and integrated care. In 2018 she was appointed as director of operational performance, responsible for co-ordinating care pathways across the Trust and ensuring key operational and performance targets were met consistently. This post has now been superseded by the chief operating officer role. Claire began her new role on 1 July.
