English National Opera says thank you to our staff with virtual Christmas carols

The English National Opera (ENO) has given staff at the Trust a special boost this Christmas with the singing of carols to help spread some festive cheer.

Members of the ENO Chorus - one of the finest professional operatic ensembles in the UK today – volunteered their time to film a recording dedicated to Imperial College Healthcare staff as their way of saying thank you for their hard work during the pandemic.

Earlier this year, the Trust partnered with the ENO on ENO Breathe, an integrated six week programme of singing, breathing and wellbeing aimed at supporting and enhancing the recovery of patients still experiencing symptoms after their initial Covid-19 illness. Working closely with Dr Sarah Elkin, who is clinical director for integrated care and a respiratory consultant at the Trust, it is the first partnership of its kind between a leading arts organisation and an NHS Trust.
Patients continue to benefit from the programme.

Dr Sarah Elkin, said: “For many of us, we’re sadly unable to spend the festive season the way we do normally and this includes missing out on traditions like carol singing together. Through ENO Breathe we have seen the power of singing together for improving outcomes for our patients and we’re really touched by the efforts of the ENO to bring some Christmas magic to our staff who have all worked so incredibly hard this year caring for patients.”
