Closure of Hammersmith Bridge may affect travel to Charing Cross Hospital

The closure of Hammersmith Bridge may impact travel to and from Charing Cross Hospital.

The 132-year-old bridge was closed today (11 April) following a routine inspection safety check by Hammersmith and Fulham council which revealed critical faults. The council has advised that the bridge will remain closed indefinitely.

As a result, Transport for London has introduced changes to bus routes 33, 72, 209, 419, 485 and 609, which have been diverted or will now stop short of their destination. These are not routes which stop directly outside the hospital.

TfL is encouraging customers to check their website or Twitter feed for full information on diversions, and live travel updates. Information for our patients on how to get to Charing Cross Hospital can be found here.
