Joint response to proposed approach and next steps to providing cardio-respiratory services in London

Joint response to NHS England’s board item on cardio-respiratory services in London – from Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London

We very much welcome the approach agreed by NHS England today for the development of cardio-respiratory services in London. It will allow us to preserve the long established network of specialist respiratory and cardiovascular care, medical education and research in north west London that has led to significant improvements in patient care locally, nationally and internationally. It is in line with proposals we are progressing, set out in November 2018 in ‘healthier hearts and lungs’, including the development of an integrated children’s service for west London and associated academic centre for child health and a cardiovascular and a respiratory centre of excellence. And it recognises the vital importance of investing in buildings and infrastructure in north west London to support high quality care and research.
