Bob Alexander announced as interim chair

Bob Alexander is to take on the role of interim chair from 1 April 2021, taking over from Paula Vennells who is standing down as chair at the end of March.

Bob joined the Trust board as a non-executive director in October 2020. He is currently chair of the audit, risk and governance committee and also sits on the Trust’s finance, investment and operations committee. He is currently the independent chair of Sussex Health and Care Partnership. Until early 2018 Bob was deputy chief executive and executive director of resources at NHS Improvement and previously held the positions of chief executive and director of finance at the Trust Development Authority.

Chief executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Professor Tim Orchard, said:

“Bob's extensive knowledge and experience of the NHS will help ensure our Trust remains open and responsive to new and changing needs. As we hopefully emerge from the pandemic, we are particularly keen to work with our partners, patients and communities to strengthen collaboration for the future.

“I am very grateful for Paula’s enormous contribution to the Trust and the wider health and care sector. Her continued focus on our vision and values has helped us make significant progress across many aspects of our work, not least in building understanding and support for a much needed, major redevelopment of our estate.”

An announcement about a permanent chair for the Trust is expected from NHS Improvement later this year
