PRISM five-week online antenatal course
PRISM: Postnatal Recovery Inspiration and Support for Motherhood is a new online course for women booked to give birth with maternity services at Imperial College Healthcare. The course will help you and your partner prepare for the birth of your baby. We recommend you register to attend from 28 weeks of pregnancy.
The course includes five sessions delivered online over five weeks. It is led by consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Karen Joash, consultant obstetrician Miss Jayne Terry and consultant midwife Susan Barry. Each session will cover a different topic related to giving birth, your recovery, caring for your new baby and supporting your mental wellbeing while you get to know your new baby.
The five-week course is as follows:
- Week one: The antenatal pathway and COVID-19
- Week two: The real truth about labour
- Week three: What to expect on the postnatal ward
- Week four: Physical recovery
- Week five: Strategies for mental wellbeing
Sessions are held every Thursday from 10.00 to 12.00. You are welcome to register for an individual session or book into all five.
Please register for the course on Eventbrite. Once you’ve registered, you will receive a link to access your first session. This course is offered free of charge, but donations to
Poppy’s Fund at Imperial Health Charity are welcome.
In addition to the five sessions there is a specialised module dedicated to feeding your baby. The topics include: how to breastfeed, challenges with breastfeeding and how to choose appropriate formula milk. Find out more and book your place.
