Why work here

Joining Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust means becoming part of something new, exciting and pioneering. As the UK's first academic health science centre (AHSC) in partnership with Imperial College London we offer a unique opportunity to bring together the benefits of cutting-edge research with high standards of patient care.

We value our staff and are committed to their development. We have also signed up to the national skills pledge, a voluntary commitment to boost the productivity of our business and realise the potential of our employees through training. For more information about training, see our training and development section.

We offer an excellent range of benefits to our workforce, and our five hospitals are prime locations from which you can take advantage of local London attractions.

National NHS staff survey results
In a recent survey of NHS staff in England, we scored in the top 20 percent of acute trusts for staff motivation, opportunities to develop potential at work and working in a well-structured team. We also scored better than average for the degree of work pressure felt by staff, and how much staff are able to contribute to improvements at work.

Birthplace of penicillin
As well as now being part of a pioneering new organisation, our hospitals have also made an outstanding contribution to the development of modern medicine.

Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin at St Mary's Hospital and it boasts a history of innovation. Its ground-breaking work around robotic medicine is a prime example. It is home to the UK's first robotic surgical centre and currently hosts the largest programme of minimally invasive general, cancer, cardiac and urological surgery using this technique.

World-renowned research
Hammersmith Hospital is home to the largest clinical research imaging centre in Europe. The Medical Research Council Clinical Sciences Centre is based on-site and works closely with the Trust. Charing Cross Hospital is the serious injuries centre for west London and is also home to the world-renowned Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.
